Storie di terra, Storie di mare
Hambis Printmaking Museum | 24 July ~ 4 August
The land meets the sea as traditional folktales and ancient Mediterranean myths come together on Aphrodite’s island.
In this twin exhibition, Sardinian illustrator Annalisa Salis draws inspiration from old traditional stories of Sardinia, Scotland and the Mediterranean, eventually taking the viewer to Cyprus and its golden goddess.
The lively series of ink paintings and mixed media drawings is also a playful reflection on the sea and how it’s evoked – or not – in the stories.
In this visual journey through old tales, the sea is seen as the only hope in People o’ Peace, as something unknown in Su mare e’ Bessude and as the life generator in Hesiod’s telling of Aphrodite’s myth.
